Bible ExplorationBIBLE EXPLORATION
What Use Is The Bible ?
We at St James believe (refering to the Bible) that:
All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Who Wrote The Bible ?
We at St James believe that:
Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation. 21 For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
Why Read The Bible ?
When we are young many of us have a parent or guardian to guide us. We grow; but do we mature? Surely that comes with understanding ? If we had had more understanding we would never have committed those sins in our lives or could even have found ways to get our lives back in order after committing them. God wants to guide our parents, our guardians and us. He loves us and wants to express that love to us. He wants us to have a full life -one that is wholesome and tailor made for our, and everybody else's, good. When we look at our world today so far we see people are rather compromised. It would be better if there was more understanding around.
Of course The Bible is a big book so might it take a long time to read ? God knows that. He know you and I intimately. God inspired people to write parables, sections of a story, which today are collected together in this wonderful book. Eventhough it has been written by hundreds of people over thousands of years it forms an astoundingly complete whole. So we don't have to read it all at once because, as Jesus often spoke in parables, so too the Bible is in palletable lumps, collections of examples of inspiration and wisdom and failure and success.

This webpage will be updated from time to time. It's trite to quote this, as it is so well known, but I will:
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
